Boasting a strong, weather-proof construction, attractive finish and intelligent design, the 8x12 Double Door Shed is a dip-treated, apex, shiplap shed and part of Forest Garden's innovative shed range: The Better Shed. The Better Shed is stronger, easier to build and boasts adaptable features designed to offer the best workshop shed for you and your garden.
The shiplap construction features tongue and groove boards which interlock to form a robust, weathertight finish which will resist warping. The scallop design of shiplap creates a handsome finish which aids water run-off. As with all of The Better Shed Range, this shed is modular. With smaller panels, there is more framing than in standard sheds, resulting in a much stronger build. The modular design also means the panels are less prone to warping. Joins in the modular construction are protected by outer weather covering strips to prevent any water ingress.
All of this shed's timber has been dip treated to offer a 10 year guarantee against rot and fungal decay when supported by annual retreatment.
While most sheds come with an OSB floor as standard, this garden shed includes a strong pressure treated 14mm boarded timber floor. Far superior to OSB flooring, this wooden floor is built to withstand storage of your heavier items as well as years of footfall. The floor is further strengthened by pressure treated bearers.
The apex roof is made from 8mm OSB and covered in a durable mineral roof felt.
You can rest assured that your stored contents will be secure. The double doors of this shed feature double Z-bracing for increased strength while the hidden hinges cannot be tampered with from the outside. The doors are fitted with a hasp and staple closure, ready for you to add a padlock (padlock not included).
This tongue and groove shed features 6 windows. The glazing is shatterproof PET which is made from recycled materials and will not yellow or become brittle over time. The clever modular design of this double door shed means that same-size panels are interchangeable. This enables you to place the windows on the left or the right side of the shed to suit your garden. Please note that window panels come in sets of two windows which cannot be separated.
Manufactured in the UK, this garden shed is made from UK-grown FSC certified, smooth planed and kiln dried timber.
Instructions for a straightforward self-assembly are included. The smaller panels of the modular design are far easier to manoeuvre during build than standard shed panels. Or you can leave it all to the experts and purchase our installation upgrade. This shed should only be built on a level, hard surface and ideally placed on a shed base.

Wooden Shed Base Kit
As an alternative to laying slabs or concrete, this shed base is a faster, more cost effective DIY solution.
The wooden shed base consists of a framework that is made from UC4 incised timber which has been pressure treated. The pressure treatment ensures that the framework is robust and is guaranteed to resist rot for an impressive 15 years.
Size of base: 7.5cm (h) x 241.6cm (w) x 354cm (d)
Plastic Shed Base Kit
Quick and simple to install, the 12x8 plastic shed base kit is ideal for avoiding the hassle of laying slabs or concrete when preparing a base for a new shed. Its interlocking design makes it easy to put together and, though lightweight, it provides a very strong and durable base for the shed. Made from 100% recycled plastic, this shed base is eco-friendly. Also, it can be reused if the shed is repositioned. The base allows for ventilation and drainage under the shed, helping to keep the shed floor dry.
To install the base, simply interlock the square grids together and lay onto a firm, level area of ground. We recommend using 15kg of 10mm pea gravel per square (gravel not included). Each square is 500 x 500 x 40mm. This pack contains 40 squares and heavy-duty, commercially-graded weed membrane.
Please be advised that we do not assemble plastic shed bases as part of our installation service. You must prepare the base yourself in advance of the installers' visit.

The design of our sheds features more extensive framing than standard sheds. This results in a more robust build. Larger apex models also feature a metal truss bracket that adds further strength to the roof and ensures best alignment.

Dip Treatment Process Explained
Dip treatment is a tried and tested method of applying wood preservative to timber products, and the process is fairly straightforward. First, the timber is dipped into a cylinder containing a powerful wood preservative. The preservative is then absorbed into the surface of the timber and, after it’s removed and left to dry, it will be thoroughly protected it against both rot and fungal decay.
After the dip treatment process is completed, the timber will have a lovely orangey-brown hue, ensuring it will become an attractive feature of your garden, as well as complementing most fence panels. Of course, you can choose to stain your dip treated shed another colour upon assembly. If you’re interested in an affordable, practical, and sturdy dip treated shed, why not take a look at our featured products below?
