Shed of the Year 2011

Entries have been pouring in for Cuprinol’s annual Shed of the Year competition, which continues to attract hundreds of weird and wonderful shed ideas. The nationwide competition is a great way to find new ways to innovate your shed - though some are more outlandish than others – and don’t forget to enter your own humble creation to the contest!

The 2011 competition is to be judged by TV renovation guru Sarah Beeny, BBC Radio presenter Simon Mayo, and author of Men and Sheds, Gordon Thorburn.

So far this year there have been hundreds of inventive ideas ranging from great practical sheds uses such as garden offices and studios, to far more obscure personal touches – the competition even has its own section for Tardis-style entries, for those a little too immersed in Doctor Who.

As well as a source of simple, practical innovations, the Reader’s Sheds website features entrants who have taken their shed to another level in search of that perfect garden getaway: there are observatories, sheds as music venues, dining rooms, and for the casual drinker, what better way to spend the evening in a pub shed situated only feet from the house?

The polling booths are open until June 5 with category winners announced the following day and the overall winner in the week starting July 4.

Visit to see this year’s entrants, vote for your favourite and even enter your own little garden masterpiece…top prize is £1000!
